James Fideler

James Fideler is an award-winning cinematographer, producer and director and founder of the full-service production company On the Roof Productions. James recently lensed the much anticipated feature-length documentary, Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President (CNN Films, Opening Night Film Tribeca Film Festival 2020, AFI Docs Closing Night Film, Nantucket Film Festival official selection, Berkshire International Film Festival). He has filmed the Emmy-award winning documentary, Assault in the Ring (HBO), as well as Joan Baez: How Sweet the Sound (Toronto International Film Festival/Tribeca Film Festival/ PBS American Masters). His cinematography has been featured in films such as Tom Petty documentary Somewhere You Feel Free: The Making of Wildflower, The Zen of Bennett alongside cinematographer Dion Beebe ASC (premiere Tribeca Film Festival). James also shot ESPN's 30 for 30 documentaries Renee (premiere Tribeca Film Festival) about the first and only transgendered person to play in the U.S. Open, as well as the mythological boxing story No Mas: Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Roberto Duran, and the PBS Great Performances feature episode Tony Bennett and Diana Krall: Love Is Here To Stay, 2018. James is the director of photography on the multi-camera recording of Love For Sale, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett’s album of Cole Porter songs recorded at Electric Lady Studios, as well as the forthcoming feature The Lady and the Legend.. James also shoots and produces music videos, commercials and branded content for Warner Media, HBO, Sony Music Entertainment, Yousician, Optimo, McKinsey & Co., Maybelline, Revlon, Target, MoMA, and more. James is currently filming Left Behind, a documentary feature about the struggle that a group of New York City parents face when they take on the Dept. of Education in their fight to create a public school for children with dyslexia and other literacy disabilities.

On The Roof Productions is fully insured with a producer’s package policy including workers compensation insurance that allows for shooting in the most demanding locations not only in New York City but worldwide.
